Xiaomi has released three generations of “book-style” foldable phones like the Mix Fold 3, but hasn’t made a clamshell-style “flip” foldable yet, even though other Chinese companies have.
It seems Xiaomi won’t stay out of the flip phone market much longer. A device called the Xiaomi Mix Flip was spotted in a database today, confirming Xiaomi is working on a flip foldable phone with model number 2311BPN23C.
According to rumors, the Mix Flip could launch alongside the Mix Fold 4 next year, or possibly even before the end of 2022 based on its model number starting with 23. Alleged design leaks of the Mix Flip have surfaced as well.
When opened, the Mix Flip’s screen looks similar to other flip phones, but the camera island design stands out – it resembles Google Pixel phones in sketches but could look very different in real life. It’s rumored to have 3x optical zoom with three rear cameras.
Unsurprisingly, the Mix Flip will likely use the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Since Xiaomi’s foldables are thin and light, the Mix Flip may share those traits for product line consistency.
Like Xiaomi’s other foldables, the Mix Flip may unfortunately only launch in China.
