Exciting news – WhatsApp is finally adding support for high-definition (HD) videos after years of only supporting lower quality 480p videos. Despite it being 2023, this is the first time the hugely popular messaging app is enabling its users to share 720p HD videos.
Last week, WhatsApp introduced support for high-resolution photos and promised HD video support would come soon after. That day has arrived as the rollout of the new HD video feature has begun, though it may take some time to reach all users. Both iOS and Android devices will get the upgrade.
With HD video enabled, you’ll have the option to share 720p videos instead of being limited to 480p. When you go to share a video, tap the new “HD” button at the top of the screen and confirm if you want Standard (480p) or HD (720p) quality. This will also show you the file sizes to help decide which to use.
Like all media on WhatsApp, HD videos will be end-to-end encrypted for security. Recipients of HD videos will see a badge indicating the high quality.
This is great news! I’m excited to try out the new HD video feature on WhatsApp. It’s a fantastic addition that will enhance the user experience. Thanks for sharing this article.
