Tinder is making updates to its safety features in celebration of Safer Internet Day and ahead of Valentine’s Day. The dating app is introducing an incognito mode, which will limit visibility to only those profiles that a user has liked. There is also a new option to block profiles that appear in recommendations.
A new feature called long press reporting has also been added, allowing users to report offensive messages or images quickly and easily. Tinder hopes that this will encourage users to report any bad behavior, making the platform a safer place. The company has also updated its “Are You Sure” and “Does This Bother You” features, which help users report inappropriate language, including hate speech and sexual harassment. The latter has seen a 46% increase in reports of harmful language since its introduction.
In partnership with the No More campaign, Tinder is also launching a series of Healthy Dating Guides to help users identify potential red flags and protect themselves in relationships. The company is also starting a campaign called Green Flags to promote safety features and educate users on how to date safely online.
