The testing period for the second Android 13 beta on the Nothing Phone (1) has ended, and a stable build of Android 13 and the January 2023 security patch are now included in the new release of Nothing OS 1.5.2. However, the schedule for the stable release has not yet been specified by Nothing. At present, only participants in the beta program are receiving the new version, but the release is expected to cover all Nothing Phone users unless there are unforeseen issues.
If you had the most recent public beta version, you will only receive a small update that is 157MB in size. The changelog for version 1.5 of Nothing OS is provided in a screenshot.

Founder Carl Pei posted on Twitter that v1.5 has resulted in a significant improvement in battery life. The changelog indicates that standby power consumption has been reduced by half.
Pei attributes the better software quality to the fact that Nothing has an in-house team to develop Nothing OS, which is made up of engineers who previously worked on OnePlus’ Oxygen OS. Pei had previously revealed that when the mobile team was initially established, it had only 5 engineers, necessitating the outsourcing of the first version of Nothing OS. Today, Nothing has a team of 100 individuals working on the OS.
