Great news for Galaxy S20 and Note 20 owners! Despite initial reports that these 2020 flagships would not receive the new One UI 6 update based on Android 14, it now appears Samsung has changed course.
Yesterday, Samsung published a blog post with camera tips for the upcoming One UI 6 update. Interestingly, the footnotes listed the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 as devices that will receive the new camera features. Since these phones were only guaranteed 3 major Android updates, inclusion on the One UI 6 list suggests Samsung is extending support beyond Android 13.
Of course, Samsung has not yet made an official announcement about One UI 6 for the S20 and Note 20. This footnote in a blog post is the only indication so far. It’s possible it was a simple mistake rather than a deliberate confirmation. But if accurate, it would be a welcome surprise for owners of those phones who likely feel left behind by the focus on newer models.
We have reached out to Samsung for official clarification on whether One UI 6 is truly headed to the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 lineups. For now, we advise not getting too excited until Samsung confirms its plans. But there appears to be hope for an update that would bring Android 14 features to these phones. We will update this article when Samsung provides an official response.
