The difference between the iPhone and iPhone Pro is expected to increase with the 2023 models. According to leaked antenna design documents, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will have WiFi 6E connectivity, while the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will not. The schematic of the iPhone 15 line’s antenna architecture shows that the latter two will continue to use WiFi 6.
Although some of Apple’s latest devices have WiFi 6E, the feature has not been widely adopted yet. The potential absence of WiFi 6E from the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is not expected to affect most consumers as the majority of homes and businesses still use WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 routers.
MacRumors points out that in the past, Apple did not limit new WiFi standards to the Pro models. Previously, the differences between the Pro and standard models were minor, but last year, only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max had the A16 Bionic chip, Dynamic Island cutout, and ProMotion display. Apple seems to be finding ways to differentiate the Pro models from the standard models, with reports suggesting that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max could have the A16 chipset, a titanium frame, more RAM for multitasking, and a foldable display.
