Alienware, the gaming division of Dell, has announced the launch of its Aurora R16 desktop, an updated version of its flagship computer. Though the Aurora R16 is being released less than a year after the Aurora R15, it features a different design and features than its predecessor.

A sleeker and smaller design

The most noticeable change in the Aurora R16 is its design. The new desktop has a sleeker and more discreet look, with less plastic and more metal. It also has a smaller footprint, reducing its volume by 40% compared to the Aurora R15. The new design is based on Alienware’s Legend 3.0 design language, which aims to balance aesthetics and performance.

The Aurora R16 still retains some of Alienware’s signature elements, such as the color-changing AlienFX RGB lighting and the alien head logo. The front panel has a looped RGB light strip that also serves as an air intake vent. The side panel can be either transparent or solid, depending on your preference.

A powerful and cool performance

The Aurora R16 is not only a beauty, but also a beast. It can be configured with the latest Intel Core 12th and 13th Gen CPUs, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-Series GPUs, DDR5 memory, solid-state storage, and up to 1000W power supplies. These components can deliver excellent gaming performance, capable of running the most demanding games at high settings and resolutions.

To keep the system cool and quiet, the Aurora R16 has improved airflow and acoustics. It features a redesigned cooling system that can be either air-cooled or liquid-cooled, depending on your choice. The cooling system also supports overclocking, allowing you to push your system to its limits.

A customizable and convenient experience

The Aurora R16 is also designed to give you a customizable and convenient gaming experience. It comes with the new Alienware Command Center, a centralized dashboard that lets you access settings such as game-specific profiles and themes, lighting, macros, audio and more. You can also monitor your system’s performance, temperature and fan speed.

The Aurora R16 also has a variety of ports and connectivity options. It has USB-A, USB-C, 3.5 mm audio, Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, SPDIF, and surround sound ports. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 or 6E wireless networking and 2.5G LAN for fast internet access.

A competitive and affordable price

The Aurora R16 is available from Dell’s website for a starting price of $1,749. This starting configuration packs a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700F processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. You can also upgrade to more powerful components for an extra cost.

The Aurora R16 is a competitive and affordable gaming desktop that offers a sleeker design, a powerful performance, a customizable experience and a variety of options. If you are looking for a new gaming PC that can handle any game you throw at it, you might want to check out the Alienware Aurora R16.
