At MWC 2023, Tecno announced its foldable phone, the Phantom V Fold, which is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, but at a lower price point, starting at $1,099.
Tecno cut down on the price of the Phantom V Fold by using MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ chip instead of a Qualcomm chip, but it still offers a great performance with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. The phone runs on Android 13 and comes with Tecno’s skin.
The Phantom V Fold has a 7.85-inch internal display with a higher resolution and slightly larger size than the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It also has a 6.42-inch outer display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a hinge style that reduces the crease, with durability for 200,000 folds. The phone’s back cover is made of recycled plastic.
The Phantom V Fold has a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging but no wireless charging. It also features a 50MP main camera, 50MP 2x telephoto camera, and a 13MP ultrawide camera, as well as a 16MP selfie camera on the inner display and a 32MP camera on the outer display.
In general, the Phantom V Fold seems like a good deal for its price, but it may not be widely available. Tecno plans to launch the device in India, with other countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America expected to follow suit.
