Elon Musk is resigning as CEO of Twitter.

On Tuesday, Elon Musk announced that he will be resigning as the CEO of Twitter due to the results of a poll on the platform in which users voted for him to step down from the position.

On Monday, Elon Musk published a poll with two options, asking users if he should resign as CEO of Twitter. Of those who participated, 57.5% voted for him to step down and 42.5% voted against it. Musk stated in the tweet containing the poll that he would follow the results of the poll.

Elon Musk’s resignation as CEO of Twitter follows the completion of the company’s $44 billion acquisition nearly two months ago.

During his tenure, Musk faced controversy over policies such as a ban on promoting other social networks, as well as the reinstatement of Donald Trump’s account and the suspension of journalists who shared personal information about Musk.

These events have occurred while Musk was leading Twitter, and have generated conflict with his commitment to free expression.
